Who told MAGA they're 50% of the country???

Plus a look at 2024 turnout and the perilous state we're in

When the media pounced on Biden’s comments about a hack comedian at Trump’s Nazi-inspired rally at Madison Square Garden (he called Puerto Rico a “floating trash island”) MAGA feigned shock and awe.

Among their various, disingenuous arguments of outrage was that Biden had insulted 50% of the country (with a comment he didn’t actually make).

The question that struck me was…

Who told MAGA that they’re 50% of their country?

MAGA isn’t even 50% of their own party.

According to recent research, MAGA is a distinct wing among Republicans that represents about one-third of the GOP and 15% of the American adult population.

Non-MAGA outnumber MAGA 6:1 in this country, and yet they are under illusion they are half or even more than half of the people.

When I went looking for an accurate survey on what share of the GOP MAGA represents, I found an article surveying propensities for violence, racism and various other dangers posed by the voting-age population.

I think it’s important for anyone out there who is thinking about not voting, voting third party, or voting for MAGA candidates to know who these people say they are and what they’re capable of.

They’re defined in this study as people who voted for Trump in 2020, who see Biden as an illegitimate President, who believe the false conspiracy that the 2020 election was “stolen,” and plan to vote for Trump again.

More than half (54%) of MAGA believe in the Satan-worshipping pedophile child sex trafficking ring cult theory commonly called “QAnon".”

About the same share of MAGA (53%) believe Vladimir Putin is a “better president than Joe Biden.”

Nearly one-third (30%) of MAGA said violence is justified “to return Donald Trump to the presidency this year.” Extrapolated across the entire voting-eligible population, that’s 12.3 million Americans — about 5% of the country.
