Whistleblower suicide warrants a moment of reflection within our community

Earlier today, I published a framework for helping whistleblowers like myself who face unrelenting retaliation online. I am devastated to report we lost one of our own last weekend.

John Barnett and I crossed paths more than once at whistleblower- focused events we've attended. 

He seemed burdened by the weight of whistleblowing, but no more than anyone else I've met at these functions.

We all carry the weight of the truths we've chosen to champion. You can tell just by walking into a room with us that we've seen and been through the same sort of hell.

I suppose I looked particularly burdened last year, because he made it a point to give me a pep talk. He told me about Boeing, and said not to let “those people” get to me.

He said something similar years earlier.
