Whistleblower Digital Freedom and Safety Act: A framework for local, state and federal legislative bodies
When Jamie Raskin told me he authored the COVID-19 Whistleblower Act because of the retaliation I faced in Florida, I was honored and humbled.
The Act would have done nothing to protect me from the retaliation I experienced by the state and its representatives, though.
There is a substantial gap between protections provided for federal employees and contractors compared to local and state public employees who report wrongdoing, even if the reported activity has national or even global implications.
Current federal whistleblower laws also fail to address the specific and unique kinds of online retaliation waged against scientists who speak out.
I’ve been working on a draft framework for legislation to protect whistleblowers like myself from some of the most dangerous forms of retaliation.
