Conspiracy theories about the 1912 sinking of the R.M.S. Titanic resurfaced during the international search for five people killed in the OceanGate Titan submarine.

Both events, according to conspiracy personalities online, were planned disasters.

The latest conspiracies contend the five billionaires were killed in a shoddily-made submarine to distract from various news that disinformation agents contend would be damaging to democrats.
