I’m writing to you on day five of my third bout of COVID in as many years.
The first time I caught COVID - pre-vaccine - made national headlines. I nearly died. In the three years (almost exactly) since, my eyesight has declined to the point I need glasses at all times, I seem to catch everything and get sicker when I do (including two rounds of the flu each of the last two years), and I still have symptoms of long-COVID.
The second time - July 2022 - I had received both rounds of the Pfizer vaccine and one round of boosters. I caught the virus at the Florida Democratic party’s annual event. I ran a fever, slept for four or five days, and bounced back.
Now, one more booster later, I’m on day five and still testing positive, but never ran a fever and have mostly just slept through the worst of it.
