Social democracy was the bread and butter of the Democratic party for the great majority of the 20th century, at least until Bill Clinton and his version of Britain's "New Labour" and its "Third Way" came into vogue. Today's social democrats and democratic socialists are returning to those ideals that steered us through the dark days of the Great Depression and the horrors of WWII and established the global liberal democratic order that served our nation and the world so well until the dark days of Thatcherism and reaganomics, followed by the rise of right-wing populists (opportunists). Rather than falling in line behind the lukewarm "leadership" of the lack-of-ideals "centrists", the new Progressivism seeks to establish a new century of social democracy for the good of our nation and the world.
