EXCLUSIVE: DeSantis' Fake "Poop Map"
DeSantis used a street trash map recently manipulated to falsely claim San Francisco was covered in feces
After nursing yet another bad case of the flu - because last year’s bout wasn’t bad enough - I have to start this post by imploring everyone to get their flu and COVID-19 vaccinations ASAP.

My symptoms started with light-headedness. Within an hour, I felt freezing. Even wearing a winter coat, under several blankets and curled up next to our fireplace, I could not get warm. My fever reached about 102 F on the first night, which was marked by soreness and pain on my entire body. I couldn’t lay in one position for more than 30 minutes without moving because of the achiness. With Tylenol and eventually Theraflu, I spent two days in bed, mostly sleeping, with a high fever. I’m 34, healthy, and have no pre-existing or underlying conditions that would make me any more vulnerable than the average person.
I don’t smoke, don’t drink often, and exercise. I felt that fine morning - even took a COVID test before I left to ensure I was not sick. Tested positive for the flu on the second day.
I scheduled my flu vaccine appointment along with both of my kids’, but after wrangling both of them in the cramped CVS for an hour, I walked out without mine, fully intending on rescheduling, but never getting around to it. Last year, I put off getting the flu shot until after the election because I didn’t have a moment to spare. The morning of the election I woke up with a 103 F fever, and ended up going to the ER by the end of the night.
Do not dismiss the flu or COVID as just another bug. The flu has been one of the leading causes of death in America for all age groups every year for decades. Between 2000-2020, 1.2 million Americans died from the flu. Across all age groups and demographics, influenza ranks #8 as a leading cause of death pre-COVID.
Onto what I missed while suffering from my own procrastination.
There will be a lot to catch up on for this week’s Miss Informational podcast - Santos expelled from Congress, the Rainbow Bridge conspiracy, actual terrorism in Dublin, co-founders of Moms for Liberty (and the Florida GOP chairman) investigated for rape, and more.
First, I wanted to address one part of DeSantis’, er, performance on Fox News with California Governor Gavin Newsom.
I haven’t watched the entire “debate” yet - I can only take DeSantis’ nasally voice and flagrant falsehoods in very, very small doses.
One particular (and quite peculiar) part of the social media savagery unleashed on DeSantis afterward caught my attention, though.
And although I intended on getting into Florida’s Hepatitis A outbreak with this post, that will have to come later because once I got a peek at the data behind the “poop map,” I found something… odd.
