In the fallout of Florida’s ill-prepared and executed response to Hurricane Milton, DeSantis has (per usual) gone on the offensive about why the state has no obligation to regulate industries that pose a threat to human health and safety — even during major hurricane preparations.
Most states prone to hurricanes have strict laws regarding vessel and industrial safety during storms.
But Ron DeSantis wants Florida to maintain its reputation for being perpetually irresponsible, saying to one reporter when asked about securing cranes and other dangerous machinery prior to hurricane landfall: “Do we have to regulate everything?”’
