Capitulating to Terror and Mob Intimidation
Join me in calling for an end to the violent threats
Dear Readers:
Please feel free to use this letter to contact the list of companies included at the end. You can also contact them via social media using the following template:
Dear [@company]: Firing employees to appease violent mobs isn’t justice—it’s capitulation. This is McCarthyism 2.0. By caving to terror and harassment, you embolden the mob to strike again. Reinstate your staff. Apologize. Stand up for free speech.”
An Open Letter to Companies Capitulating to Terror and Mob Intimidation:
I’m writing to express my outrage for your decision to terminate an employee at the behest of a violent online mob, and to demand you correct this mistake and issue an apology to your employee.
Your employees committed no crimes. They exercised their right to free speech as private citizens. They didn’t threaten anyone or instigate violence.
However, by placating the violent online mob who have criminally doxxed, harassed, stalked, and threatened your staff, you have ceded ground to domestic terrorists and foreign troll farms.
My name was on the hit list that your employee was listed on. I’ve been in frequent contact with law enforcement regarding the violent threats I’ve received. Police say most of the accounts involved are not even based in the United States.
This decision is not just unjust — it is dangerous. Appeasement in the face of coordinated intimidation campaigns echoes some of the darkest chapters of American history, when fear and hysteria overrode reason, fairness, and justice. From the Salem witch trials to the McCarthy era, we have seen what happens when mobs dictate outcomes, and we must not repeat those mistakes.
You had a choice: to stand firm in defense of your employees and the principles of free speech, or to cave to those who seek to silence through terror. You chose the latter. That decision has consequences —not just for your organization’s reputation, but for the society we all share.
I also urge law enforcement to take these threats and campaigns of harassment seriously. Those who have engaged in doxxing, stalking, and issuing violent threats must be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Turning a blind eye only emboldens bad actors and signals impunity for coordinated intimidation.
Finally, I call on lawmakers to recognize the seriousness of this escalating trend. We need stronger protections for employees, citizens, and institutions against harassment mobs, troll farms, and politically motivated intimidation. Silence and inaction today will guarantee greater violence and instability tomorrow.
